Grace Nakamura wins 2023 Journalism Student of the Year – Jeraa

The 2023 Ossie Award winners, showcasing Australia’s best student journalism, were announced at the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia conference in Sydney.

2023 Student Awards - Winner announced —

The winner of Democracy’s Watchdog’s 2023 award for investigative journalism is Jonathan Weitz-Freeman from the University of Technology Sydney. Jonathan, who is doing a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism), will receive $1000 and a trophy.

Congratulations Jonathan and to the finalists who will be sent or presented with highly commended certificates.

It was a difficult choice this year because each of the finalist stories revealed information that was in the public interest.

The Greek Herald journalist wins award for exposé on Greek Orthodox funeral certificate

The Greek Herald journalist and University of Technology Sydney student, Pamela Rontziokos, has won a Jerra Ossie Award for a recent article in The Greek Herald which investigated the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia’s (GOAA) ‘Certificate of death and funeral service.’
